Google is working on enhancing its Gemini interface, specifically the attachment features. Recent APK teardowns indicate that the company is planning to move the Deep Research and Canvas tools to the main home screen. This change is expected to introduce a new “Power up” button within the attachment sheet, aimed at enhancing user prompts to generate more detailed responses.
Previously, Google updated Gemini’s file attachment interface by replacing the smaller pop-up with a larger sheet housing four attachment buttons and dedicated sections for the Deep Research and Canvas tools. Although this update, which became available to users late last month, enhanced functionality, it appears that Google is still fine-tuning the attachment UI. The upcoming changes will simplify the attachment interface by relocating the Deep Research and Canvas options, making room for the new Power up feature.
This function allows users to improve their text prompts easily. Currently, Gemini provides suggestion chips above the text box to guide users in exploring its features, assisting in planning, research, and writing improvement. Screenshots indicate that these suggestion chips might be replaced with shortcuts granting quick access to the Deep Research and Canvas tools, along with new options for creating images or videos.
While these features are still inactive in the latest app version, they hint at the potential for exciting functionalities in future updates. The Power up button, although currently non-functional, promises to let users refine their prompts with just a tap, improving the detail of responses from Gemini. Initially spotted in the web version last year, it appears that Google is now preparing to roll it out for mobile users.
Further updates will be provided once these features become widely available.
