Samsung’s One UI 7 update is set to introduce two notable features for its Galaxy Z Fold devices. Revealed in the changelog, these features include an auto-hide taskbar and a new Column View in the My Files app.
The update is expected to be available for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Fold 5, Fold 4, and Fold 3. After a delayed start, the One UI 7 update is now gaining traction, having initially launched in January alongside the Galaxy S25 series.
Although the rollout to older devices faced a slow beginning, Samsung has started officially distributing the update to users in South Korea on various devices, including the Galaxy S24 series and Z Flip 6. The full changelog has surfaced in Korean, and machine translations indicate multiple new features, some of which are exclusive to the foldable models.
One of the unique upgrades is the auto-hide taskbar feature, which allows the taskbar to disappear automatically when an app is opened on the Z Fold’s main screen. Users can quickly re-access the taskbar with a slow swipe up from the bottom of the screen, providing a more immersive experience on the larger display.
The second enhancement addresses the My Files app, introducing a new Column View designed specifically for larger screens. This feature displays additional file information such as previews, file size, modified date, and complete file path on the right side of the screen.
Although currently limited to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and its Special Edition, these upgrades are expected to roll out to older foldable models in the coming months. In addition to these features, One UI 7 introduces a host of improvements across the Galaxy ecosystem, including new AI tools for writing assistance, call transcription, and smart content suggestions, among various visual and functional updates.
