Samsung No Longer Holds Exclusive Rights to Overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite with New Competitor Phone

REDMAGIC has officially unveiled its latest gaming phone, the REDMAGIC 10S Pro, marking a significant moment as it becomes the first non-Samsung device equipped with the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This chip, designed for top-tier performance, features an impressive CPU clock speed of 4.47GHz and a GPU frequency of 1.2GHz. In comparison, the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite reaches a maximum of 4.32GHz and 1.1GHz.

Priced starting at $699, the phone is now available on the company’s website. The overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset promises to deliver exceptional performance. However, previous models with the standard version of this chip faced overheating issues during GPU stress tests.

To combat this, the REDMAGIC 10S Pro is equipped with an impressive cooling system that includes a fan capable of spinning at 24,000RPM. While the fan may help, concerns remain regarding the phone’s ability to maintain performance under intensive gaming scenarios. Additionally, it features advanced cooling technology with a large vapor chamber and Liquid Metal 2.0.

In terms of gaming-specific features, the REDMAGIC 10S Pro offers capacitive shoulder triggers, customizable RGB lighting, and a Magic Key that directs users to the GameSpace menu. The phone is powered by a robust 7,050mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging, although it lacks wireless charging capabilities. Additionally, the device boasts a 6.85-inch 144Hz OLED display, a 16MP under-display selfie camera, and a versatile 50MP+50MP+2MP triple rear camera setup.

Other notable features include an IR blaster and REDMAGIC OS 10.5 based on Android 15. The phone also includes a headphone jack, a welcome addition for many users. The REDMAGIC 10S Pro will be available in various markets, including the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

The base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage starts at $699, while the top variant, featuring 24GB RAM and 1TB of storage, is priced at $999. Early buyers can take advantage of a promotional price of $649 starting June 17.
