Google Messages to Display Audio File Size Prior to Downloading Soon

Google Messages is undergoing several enhancements aimed at improving user experience and potentially saving mobile data. One prominent feature currently being tested is a larger Floating Action Button (FAB) for Gemini, which resembles the existing Start Chat button in a collapsed state.

Recent APK teardowns reveal this new UI, showcasing the new larger button which, though seemingly misaligned, is expected to be adjusted if rolled out widely. In addition to the new FAB, Google is focusing on voice messages and audio files.

Users may soon see the file size and download progress displayed alongside incoming voice messages and audio files. This feature will allow users to make more informed choices about downloads, especially when on limited data plans.

Another improvement involves the animation for opening the Gallery when attaching multimedia files. Currently, this action lacks a defining animation, but Google is working on a more fluid experience to enhance the attachment process.

While most users may overlook this update, it represents Google’s attention to detail in enhancing the overall messaging experience. It is essential to mention that these features are still in development, and there is no confirmed timeline for their public release.

As Google continues to refine its messaging app, users can anticipate a more polished and user-friendly interface in future updates. Stay tuned for further announcements regarding these changes as they’re rolled out.
