Google Launches Pixel Camera Educational Hub for Pixel 6 and Newer Devices

Google is enhancing the Pixel Camera app with the introduction of an “education hub,” which is now being rolled out for Pixel 6 and newer devices in version 9.9 of the app. This feature, first announced in the June Pixel Drop, aims to help users navigate and master the wide array of camera capabilities that the app offers. When accessing the Pixel Camera app, users will notice a new icon resembling a question mark in the top-right corner. Tapping this icon leads to a section titled “Explore ways to take photos.” Here, users can explore quick overviews of various camera modes, such as Add Me, Astrophotography, Night Sight, Macro Focus, Panorama, Action Pan, and others.

The available features will depend on the specific Pixel model and its camera capabilities. Each mode comes equipped with sample images and a practical “How To” section, providing step-by-step instructions on utilizing these features effectively. Additionally, a floating “Open Camera” button allows users to jump directly into their selected mode for a seamless experience. The learning extends to video features as well.

By scrolling to the “Explore ways to take videos” section, users can find guides for modes like Cinematic Blur, Macro Focus video, and Time Lapse, among others. There’s also a “More Tips” section that offers extra advice on capturing better photos with your Pixel device. The new education hub employs Google’s Material 3 Expressive design, featuring dynamic shapes and a friendly, rounded aesthetic, contributing to a more modern and engaging user experience. This rollout reflects Google’s commitment to making photography more accessible and enjoyable for its users.
