Get the first Google Beam device for $24,999, with the Beam license sold separately.

HP has recently introduced the first device featuring Google Beam 3D video conferencing technology. The HP Dimension, equipped with this innovative technology, will be available at the steep price of $24,999. Notably, this price does not include a separate license required to use Google Beam.

Google Beam, initially unveiled as Project Starline back in 2021, was rebranded earlier this year. The announcement by HP reveals that the HP Dimension will be commercially available to select customers in late 2025. Despite the hefty price tag, it’s important to point out that buyers will need to purchase the Google Beam license separately, although the cost of that license has not been disclosed.

At present, Google Beam only supports one-on-one video calls, which might limit its appeal to some potential users. However, HP has assured customers that the HP Dimension will still function with popular platforms such as Zoom Rooms and Google Meet. Additional support is also available for cloud-based services like WebEx and Microsoft Teams.

In terms of specifications, the HP Dimension is designed with a 65-inch light-field display, seven cameras, and twelve microphones, promising a rich audio-visual experience. Google Beam utilizes machine learning, spatial audio, and a variety of advanced technologies to transform traditional 2D calls into immersive, glasses-free 3D conversations that offer a remarkable sense of depth. Given the high price point of the HP Dimension, it appears that Google is primarily targeting enterprise customers for this technology.

Therefore, affordable options that support Google Beam might not be available for quite some time.
