Fairphone is set to introduce its next smartphone model, the Fairphone 6, expected to launch later this month. This new device will likely feature a modular back panel, enabling users to customize their phones by easily switching colors or adding accessories.
The Fairphone 6 is anticipated to be available in three different colors and priced around €549.99. It has been almost two years since Fairphone released the Fairphone 5, making the arrival of its successor much anticipated.
Recent leaks suggest that the Fairphone 6 could be just around the corner, with a potential launch date of June 25. According to sources, it will be offered in a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
While detailed information about the internal hardware remains limited, an image of the Fairphone 6’s front profile has surfaced. It hints at a two-part modular back panel, allowing users not only to change their device’s color but also to achieve a dual-tone appearance.
This feature echoes designs from the CMF Phone 1, showcasing an innovative approach to smartphone customization. Moreover, the modular back panel will support various accessories, including card holders, lanyards, or rings that aid in holding the phone securely.
Although the specific mounting mechanism for these accessories has not been clearly demonstrated, an image suggests the presence of a sliding latch for easy access to the back panel. Additionally, the Fairphone 6 is expected to feature user-replaceable main, wide-angle, and selfie cameras.
Similar to its predecessor, components like the earpiece, speaker, USB-C port, display, and battery will remain interchangeable. With a pricing structure yet to be confirmed, the Fairphone 6 promises an exciting blend of customization and sustainability.
