A Compelling New Rival to Galaxy Z Flip 7 Features Impressive Specs and a Unique Accessory

Xiaomi has recently introduced the Mix Flip 2, a foldable smartphone that is set to compete with Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7. This new device, launched in China, is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and boasts a substantial 5,165mAh battery—significantly larger than the rumored 4,300mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Additionally, it features 67W wired and 50W wireless charging capabilities.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the Mix Flip 2 is not just its hardware, but rather the unique portable camera kit that Xiaomi has developed as an accessory. This device combines a camera grip with a thermal photo printer, allowing users to take pictures with a physical shutter button and print them instantly. While this may appeal to some, the added bulk could be seen as counterproductive to the sleek and portable nature of foldable phones.

In terms of display, the Mix Flip 2 features a 6.83-inch 120Hz OLED screen that claims to have a “Super Flat Crease,” certified to remain flat even after 200,000 folds. There is also a 4.01-inch cover screen that supports numerous applications and introduces animated pet avatars, bringing a fun and personalized touch to the device. Camera-wise, the Mix Flip 2 is equipped with two Leica-branded 50MP rear cameras—one main and one ultrawide—as well as a 32MP selfie camera.

The pricing starts at approximately $837 for the base model, with the camera kit available for an additional cost. While currently limited to the Chinese market, there is anticipation over potential global availability. As Xiaomi continues to innovate, this device could reshape the landscape of foldable smartphones.
