The recent rollout of One UI 7 for Samsung devices has introduced several enhancements, but it has also complicated the screen mirroring process for users trying to connect their Galaxy phones to Samsung TVs. Previously, the Smart View panel in Quick Settings made this feature easily accessible.
However, with the update, the ability to mirror a TV screen to a phone has been removed from this convenient panel. In One UI 6.1.1 and earlier versions, users could simply tap into Quick Settings to access the Smart View panel and choose from options to mirror either direction: from a Galaxy phone to a Samsung TV or vice versa.
This straightforward approach allowed for seamless connectivity, as highlighted in illustrations shared by tech commentators. The change in One UI 7 has led to some confusion, as the option to mirror from the TV to the phone is no longer available through the Smart View panel.
Instead, users are required to utilize the SmartThings app to access this feature. Once in the app, users must select their TV, navigate to the Featured tab, and then locate Smart View.
This new method presents an updated menu that offers more controls, allowing choices between screen mirroring or playing sound. The rationale behind removing the mirroring function from the Quick Settings remains unclear, and many users find the change inconvenient.
This adjustment seems to remove the simplicity that was characteristic of the previous version, making it less user-friendly for those looking to mirror content easily. Overall, while One UI 7 brings improvements, the alteration to the Smart View feature raises questions about usability and convenience for its users.
Users will have to adapt to this new method or seek alternative solutions for their screen mirroring needs.
