Samsung Gallery Could Introduce Private Album Feature in One UI 8 – Android Authority

Samsung is developing a new feature for its Gallery app aimed at enhancing the privacy of users’ photos and videos. A recent leak from the upcoming One UI 8 reveals a potential addition of a “Private album” option that would allow users to securely hide their media.

This feature is designed to function as a streamlined version of the existing Secure Folder, but integrated directly within the Gallery app. Although many Samsung users are still in the process of adapting to One UI 7, information about One UI 8 continues to emerge.

The leak, shared by a Twitter user, indicates that the Private album feature would serve as a dedicated space for concealing specific images and videos from the main Gallery view. This could be particularly useful for individuals who want quick yet secure access to sensitive content without the need for navigating to a separate app or container.

Currently, Samsung’s Secure Folder provides a way for users to lock away various apps, files, and media under an added layer of security. However, this often requires switching between different interfaces as items are stored in a separate container.

The introduction of the Private album would allow for a more straightforward approach to managing privacy within the Gallery itself. As One UI 8 is still undergoing development, users can look forward to additional enhancements that aim to improve overall app control and introduce more predictive features.

Rumors suggest that the first beta version may be released soon, with a stable rollout anticipated later in the year. After the staggered deployment of One UI 7, it remains to be seen how the timing for One UI 8 will unfold.
