The OnePlus 13 has recently seen an upgrade with the Android 16 beta 2 update, marking a significant change for users. This update, aimed primarily at developers and advanced users, introduces a customizable battery charging limit feature that enhances user control beyond the previous fixed 80% cap.
Users can now adjust the charging limit from 80% to 95% in 5% increments, providing greater flexibility to balance daily usage needs with long-term battery health. As the first device outside of Google Pixels to receive this early update, the OnePlus 13 showcases advancements in battery management.
Prior to this update, users were restricted to a toggle for the 80% limit found in the settings menu under Battery health. With the new Android 16 beta 2 build, though still branded as Oxygen OS 15 in the settings, users can now select their preferred charging cap.
Although setting the limit to 100% may seem redundant, having multiple options allows for a personalized approach to battery management. This feature particularly benefits those who may feel that an 80% limit is too conservative.
Users planning for a longer device lifespan or those who anticipate needing more battery capacity in the short term can choose higher limits. For instance, some users, including myself, have opted for a 95% cap, which seems to strike the right balance between immediate battery life and long-term longevity.
As technology continues to evolve, this update reflects a growing recognition of user preferences concerning battery management. It raises the question for many: Do you adhere to the 80% guideline for battery charging?
