Pre-orders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 are now live in the United States. As of April 24, fans can secure their orders from major retailers such as Target and Best Buy, with GameStop and Walmart expected to join in shortly.
The base model is priced at $450, while the Mario Kart World bundle will cost $500. This launch comes after a significant delay due to import tariff announcements from the U.S. government, which forced Nintendo to pause pre-orders while they reassessed pricing and availability.
With the recent easing of these tariff concerns, Nintendo is confident in proceeding with the release of the Switch 2. As for pricing, the console is available at the previously confirmed rates.
However, existing game titles remain on the higher end of the scale; the standalone Mario Kart World is currently priced at $80, while a new Donkey Kong adventure will retail for $70. Unfortunately, the impact of tariffs has also affected accessory prices.
For example, the new camera add-on is now priced at $55 instead of $50, Joy-Cons have increased from $90 to $95, and Joy-Con straps will now be $13 instead of $12. Given the unpredictable current economic climate, Nintendo has indicated that further price increases may be possible in the future.
Therefore, it’s advisable for interested consumers to act quickly, as pre-order listings for the Nintendo Switch 2 are not expected to last long. This launch marks one of the most awaited console releases in recent years, and fans are eager to secure their devices.
