Google recently launched Android 16 Beta 4, signifying the second platform stability update with finalized APIs and behaviors. This update is now accessible on various devices from manufacturers like HONOR, Lenovo, OnePlus, OPPO, realme, vivo, iQOO, and Xiaomi.
For those who do not own a Pixel, it’s possible to test the beta using eligible partner phones, a Generic System Image (GSI), or the official Android emulator, all without affecting your main device. Previously, Android 16 was available exclusively through beta programs for Pixel devices.
With the introduction of Beta 4, developers can now finalize their apps for the Play Store, as the developer APIs and app behaviors are set. While the beta is designed for testing purposes, advanced users can explore this version on a wider selection of smartphones, tablets, and foldables.
Note that these beta builds remain unstable, and it’s advised not to install them on your primary devices. Eligible devices for the Android 16 Beta include models from various brands.
For instance, the HONOR Magic 7 Pro and Lenovo YOGA Tab Plus are among those supported, along with OnePlus 13, OPPO Find X8, realme GT 7 Pro, iQOO 13, and several Xiaomi models. If your device isn’t listed, Pixel users can test Android 16 betas, including on the newly supported Pixel 9a.
Alternatively, loading the Generic System Images onto an unlocked device is an option, though it requires advanced technical skills. For a safer method, the Android Emulator provides a risk-free way to try the latest features without jeopardizing your daily driver.
