Lenovo is reportedly preparing a successor to its compact gaming-focused Legion Tab Gen 3, with potential updates on the horizon. According to a recent leak, the refreshed model could debut as early as May. It is expected to feature an upgraded screen, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and a slimmer design, though the timing of its availability in the US remains uncertain. Having spent time with the Lenovo Legion Tab (Gen 3), I have been genuinely impressed with its performance.
The device boasts an 8.8-inch 165Hz display and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Its compact size is quite rare among Android tablets, making it an excellent balance for both gaming and everyday tasks. The new model is anticipated to maintain the 8.8-inch size but upgrade to a 3K LCD display while keeping the impressive 165Hz refresh rate. Currently, the Legion Tab Gen 3 has a 2560×1600 panel, so this enhancement signifies a substantial improvement.
However, I hope Lenovo considers an AMOLED display for deeper blacks and vibrant colors, further enhancing its media capabilities. Additionally, the new tablet is set to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, considered the leading flagship chipset for superior gaming performance. There are also indications that battery capacity might rise to between 7,000 and 8,000mAh, even with a thinner design. Other rumored enhancements include dual X-axis haptic motors and dual speakers to improve the overall experience.
While a competing product may also be in the pipeline for June, details are scarce. The significant question remains about availability, as previous models have experienced delays in reaching the US market. We can only hope that Lenovo accelerates the process this time around.
