Google Song Search History Helps You Recall Music You’ve Listened to Recently – Android Authority

The Google app for Android is introducing a new feature: a song search history view, now available in its latest beta release. While users of Pixel devices have long had access to song identification tools like Now Playing, this functionality was previously absent in the main Google app.

Now, users will be able to see a history of songs they’ve identified, making it easier to revisit previously recognized tracks. The significance of search history extends beyond just web browsing; it allows users to track their media consumption.

Similar to YouTube’s viewing history, the new song search history feature can help users recall songs they’ve identified in the past. This enhancement adds a much-needed element of memory to the song identification feature, enriching the user experience on Android devices.

The beta version 16.13.38 of the Google app now enables this functionality. Users can access their recent song identification history through a designated icon at the top right of the song search interface.

Previously, this section was unpopulated, but it has now been updated to display song thumbnails, artist information, and dates of the searches performed. Select any entry to launch a Google search for the respective song.

While the addition of song search history does not affect Google’s song recognition capabilities, it aligns the app’s features with those already available in Now Playing. Additional improvements to the song recognition service are reported to be in the pipeline, and users can look forward to these changes entering public beta shortly.

For users interested in keeping track of their music discovery, this beta update represents a significant enhancement to the Google app.
