Gemini Live Launches New Screen-Sharing and Camera Features for Users

Google has officially begun the rollout of Gemini Live’s live video and screen-sharing capabilities. These advanced features are available to all Gemini Advanced users on compatible Android devices, along with those using the Pixel 9 series, including Pixel 9a, and the Galaxy S25 series. At the recently held MWC 2025, Google showcased the new functionalities of Gemini Live, which users started receiving at the end of last month. Through this official rollout, a broader audience can access these exciting features.

Starting today, Gemini Live’s camera and screen-sharing capabilities will be active for all Gemini Advanced subscribers on eligible Android devices, enhancing user interaction significantly. With these new options, users can engage in natural conversations across more than 45 languages, boosted by the ability to share their camera or screen. A new button labeled “share screen with Live” appears in the Gemini assistant overlay. Tapping this button prompts the Google app to record the user’s screen to share with Gemini Live.

Users can then pose questions related to the shared screen content, and Gemini will provide responses as best as it can. The camera mode can also be initiated via the camcorder icon, allowing users to ask questions in a live video setting. Google has highlighted several practical applications for these features, such as offering advice on organizing a messy closet by using the camera, troubleshooting product issues, providing shopping assistance, and brainstorming creative projects. However, there is a downside: the camera and screen-sharing functions are not accessible to all Gemini users since they are gated behind a subscription or specific device purchases.

Despite some understandable business rationale here, many users feel these innovative AI capabilities should be available for all to explore, potentially increasing interest and engagement with AI technologies. Have you tried out Gemini Live’s new features? We’d love to hear your experiences and how they compare to traditional search methods.
