Google is working on making it easier and potentially cheaper for users to access Gemini Advanced by introducing an annual billing option for its Google One AI Premium plan priced at $19.99 per month. This new billing structure aims to provide long-term users with a more cost-effective way to continue enjoying the benefits of Gemini Advanced, with the possibility of saving up to $40 annually, depending on the final pricing.
Gemini has seen significant advancements, making it increasingly appealing for users, particularly for those using high-end Android devices. While some of these flagship devices may offer a complimentary trial or subscription to Gemini Advanced, users will eventually need to decide on the monthly payment option via the Google One AI Premium plan.
In response to user feedback, Google is taking steps to introduce this annual subscription option. Josh Woodward, Vice President at Google Labs, shared on social media that the company is actively exploring annual subscription plans for Gemini Advanced.
Currently, Google offers various Google One plans in the United States, including a Basic 100GB plan for $1.99/month and a Premium 2TB plan for $9.99/month. While an annual billing option exists for the first two plans, allowing users to save a bit, they do not cover access to Gemini Advanced, leaving users reliant on the monthly plan for AI services.
The introduction of an annual billing model for Google One AI Premium could prove beneficial for users deeply invested in Google’s AI offerings. This change could not only grant them consistent access to the latest features and models but also provide savings.
For Google, this strategy could help maintain user engagement and ensure a steadier revenue stream, while the final pricing of the annual plan will soon become clear.
