Razer’s Steam Link Alternative: A Versatile Device for Gaming Beyond Just Steam Titles – Android Authority

Razer has introduced Razer PC Remote Play, a new streaming app for Android and iOS designed to enhance gaming experiences, similar to Steam Link. Officially announced at CES, this app has been in beta for a few months, and its full launch brings impressive features to users. Unlike Steam Link, which limits access to Steam’s library, Razer PC Remote Play allows streaming for any game installed on your PC, whether sourced from services like the Epic Game Store or PC Game Pass. The app is built on the open-source Moonlight framework, adding unique functionalities such as automatic adjustment to match the native resolution and refresh rate of the streaming device.

This ensures pixel-perfect streaming quality, enhancing the overall gaming experience. Although setup can be slightly more involved due to the requirement of installing both the Razer PC Remote Play and the Razer Nexus app, the performance greatly exceeds current market alternatives. Users must also install additional software on their PCs and create an account. With the official rollout, Razer PC Remote Play now includes support for all mobile controllers on both Android and iOS devices, alongside the recently integrated AV1 codec aimed at improving streaming quality and minimizing latency.

For users with the Razer Kishi Ultra controller, compatibility with Razer Sensa HD Haptics offers immersive feedback synchronized with in-game audio. For those wishing to try the app, the Razer Cortex app must be installed on the host PC, while the Razer Nexus and Razer PC Remote Play apps can be freely downloaded from the Play Store and App Store for mobile devices. The integration of mouse and keyboard support for compatible games on iPads also expands its usability.
