Prevent Unexpected Plan Changes with AT&T’s New Wireless Account Lock Feature

AT&T has rolled out a new feature called Wireless Account Lock, designed for both postpaid and prepaid subscribers. This innovative option aims to prevent unauthorized changes to customer accounts, addressing concerns many users have regarding unexpected modifications made by representatives, such as billing updates or changes to plans. Users can easily activate the Wireless Account Lock through the myAT&T app, where they will find a toggle switch to enable it. Once activated, key account changes—including device modifications, line alterations, and the purchasing of devices on the account—will be disabled.

This feature is particularly useful in safeguarding users from any unauthorized attempts to alter their accounts. The Wireless Account Lock is applicable to all devices associated with an AT&T Wireless account, such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, hotspots, and laptops. However, it’s important to note that non-wireless services are not covered under this lock feature. This enhancement extends to postpaid accounts, which can be managed by anyone granted secondary online access by the account owner, along with a similar option available for business subscribers.

For those interested in activating the Wireless Account Lock, the process is straightforward. Users need to open the myAT&T app and follow these steps: select Services, choose Mobile Security, and scroll to Wireless Account Lock. After selecting Continue, users can lock or unlock their chosen account with a simple swipe. Additionally, an email notification will be sent to the primary account holder’s email whenever the lock feature is toggled on or off.

This new feature empowers AT&T customers to have greater control over their accounts, enhancing security and peace of mind.
