Google Wallet is undergoing a significant redesign as it adopts the Material 3 Expressive aesthetic with the latest Play System update. The update is now being widely rolled out, bringing a modern look to the app in version 25.25. The new design enhances Google Wallet’s overall appearance with updated icons, rounded rectangle containers, and refreshed buttons, all characteristic of the Material 3 Expressive style. Although some users noticed the redesign last week, Google is officially expanding it in version 25.24.772650276 of the app.
Key visual changes include a new logo in the top left corner, replacing the previous “Wallet” text. Additionally, the app introduces a minimalistic floating action button (FAB) marked with a “+” instead of the former “Add to Wallet” button. These improvements contribute to a more streamlined and contemporary user interface. Importantly, the functionality of Google Wallet remains unchanged, so users will not need to relearn how to navigate the app.
The new design is expected to enhance usability, making the experience more intuitive and enjoyable. Google Wallet isn’t the only application benefiting from this design overhaul. Recent updates indicate that other Google apps, such as Gmail and the Phone app, are also receiving similar Material 3 Expressive upgrades. In fact, all of Google’s applications are set to evolve with this expressive refresh in the future.
This commitment to modern design reflects Google’s ongoing effort to enhance user experience across its platforms.
