YouTube Music Expands Access to New Lyrics Sharing Feature for More Users

YouTube Music has rolled out its long-awaited lyrics sharing feature to more users on Android and iOS. This functionality allows users to share up to five lines of song lyrics through a custom image. The feature is part of the YouTube Music app version 8.24 and can be accessed via a new “Share” button in the Lyrics tab. The concept for this lyrics sharing feature has been in the works for some time.

It was first discovered during an app teardown in January and saw a limited rollout in April, giving us an initial glimpse. However, it has finally reached a broader audience, providing a new way for users to engage with their favorite songs in the YouTube Music app. To use the feature, simply navigate to the Lyrics tab and press the “Share” button. This will bring up a “Select Lyrics” screen, allowing you to choose your desired lines.

After selecting your lines, you can tap “Next” to preview the lyrics card. This card displays the song name, artist, and album art, along with the selected lyrics and the YouTube Music logo. Interestingly, the card’s background defaults to the dominant color from the album art, but users have the flexibility to choose from ten different color options. In the ever-evolving music streaming landscape, Spotify has offered a similar lyrics sharing feature for some time.

It’s encouraging to see YouTube Music enhancing its capabilities, making it easier for users to share their favorite lyrics with friends and family.
