Samsung has commenced beta testing for its anticipated One UI 8 interface, which is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 7 models in July. This latest update promises a range of exciting features, moving beyond the understated enhancements seen in One UI 7. One of the standout additions in the One UI 8 beta for the Galaxy S25 is an innovative clock widget for the lock screen. This new design introduces an “iOS-like” depth effect, allowing the clock numerals to seamlessly adjust and wrap around key elements in the lock screen wallpaper.
This feature aims to enhance the visual appeal and usability of the lock screen, a capability that has been hard to achieve for users of One UI 7 and earlier versions without additional modules. In previous iterations, achieving a similar depth effect required using a Good Lock module called Lockstar, which often fell short of expectations. The new One UI 8 widget efficiently eliminates this restriction. Users can freely reposition the clock on the lock screen, and the numbers dynamically resize to fit the surrounding space, creating a more integrated and visually pleasing design.
Users have begun sharing their experiences with the new clock widget on social media, demonstrating its adaptability based on its position. Screenshots and videos leaked by various sources showcase how the clock text changes as it moves across the screen. Additionally, the clock’s font size adjusts between the always-on display and the active lock screen. Apart from the revamped clock feature, One UI 8 will introduce numerous useful functions for the Now Brief interface.
As anticipation builds for this update, users are invited to share their thoughts and excitement in the comments section.
