The Nothing Phone 1 is receiving a new update that introduces several features before potentially reaching the end of its update cycle. The highlight of this update is the inclusion of Android 15’s Privacy Space feature, specifically designed to integrate smoothly with Nothing’s user interface. This new Privacy Space creates a secure area on the device for sensitive apps and data.
Users can access this feature by swiping right in the app drawer, and it functions similar to privacy features on other Android devices. It requires separate authentication, ensuring that apps remain isolated from the rest of the system. Additionally, users can set different privacy passwords for the new Privacy Space and the existing App Locker, enhancing security.
The update also includes a revamped Hotspot Manager, which allows users to manage connected devices more effectively. It addresses an issue with the Glyph Composer lighting effect, and provides a toggle for users to disable vibrations during face unlock. The June 2025 Android security patch is part of this update, along with various bug fixes.
However, this could be one of the last major updates for the Nothing Phone 1, as the company has announced that it will not receive Android 16. Nothing has already fulfilled its promise of three OS upgrades for the device. Although security updates may continue for a while, new feature rollouts are likely to decrease as the device loses support for the latest operating system.
User reactions are mixed, with some appreciating the addition of Privacy Space while others expressed disappointment over unresolved camera quality issues. The community seems divided about the effectiveness of this final update.
