Android Authority has announced the availability of Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2.1, which has been released for testers. This update follows the introduction of the first quarterly platform release (QPR) beta build last month, which began a new phase of beta testing for Pixel owners.
The recent updates have provided users with early access to new features, and this latest version comes with several crucial bug fixes. The QPR1 Beta 2.1 update is now available for Pixel 6 and later devices.
It arrives two weeks after the previous Beta 2, which introduced additional functionalities such as custom keyboard shortcuts and an enhanced desktop windowing experience. However, this new update focuses primarily on addressing minor bugs rather than introducing significant new features.
Google has listed four specific issues that are resolved in this update. These include the transparency and invisibility of the “Approve” button in Device Admin settings, persistent sound issues where the lockscreen toggle appears off but still plays sounds, intermittent failures of the Android back button, and a launcher crash that occurs when swiping up from the bottom.
While the issues resolved may seem minor, they still significantly improve the user experience and usability of the system. Overall, this update represents a continued effort by Google to refine the Android experience for its users.
With the next major Pixel Drop likely expected in September, testers eager for early access should consider registering for the Android Beta program to receive these updates.
