Although the new features are not yet available for public use, the teardown shows an innovative swipe-based interface for replying to media. Previously, users had to select a media item and navigate back to the main chat to see other content.
With the new update, users can easily swipe through a carousel of media items in a conversation, enabling quicker access and interaction. While this change might seem minor at first, it becomes valuable when users deal with numerous media items in busy group chats. The ability to pause and dive into specific threads while scrolling contributes to a more efficient chat experience. Furthermore, users can access a detailed view of all media shared in the conversation, enhancing organization and reference.
