Currently, when you access search results, the search bar appears at the top of the screen. However, Google is testing a new layout with the search bar positioned at the bottom, which could enhance one-handed usability.
If you haven’t begun using Google Lens, you are missing out on its remarkable capabilities. For example, when you’re out for a walk and curious about the types of trees you see, a quick scan with Lens can provide you with information efficiently. Such spontaneous queries are best served by an intuitive app, and the potential redesign we’re examining today promises to make it even easier to use. An APK teardown reveals future features coming to Google Lens, though there’s no guarantee that all anticipated features will be publicly released.
Recently, Google updated its Android app to version 16.22.44.sa.arm64 beta, allowing us to explore intriguing changes, particularly regarding the search interface of Google Lens. In the current setup, when you access an image with Lens, a search card slides up from the bottom, but as you swipe up to fill the screen, the search bar moves to the top. While this keeps the search bar visible, it becomes harder to reach, especially for one-handed use in spontaneous situations. Recognizing this limitation, we activated a preview of a modified interface that relocates the search bar to the bottom.
This bottom-search-bar feature is not yet available in the public version of Lens, and it remains to be seen whether Google will adopt it fully. What do you think? Would you prefer a top-bar or bottom-bar design? Let us know in the comments.
