Google Home may soon enhance its functionality by allowing users to pin weather and air quality index (AQI) data in the Favorites tab. This new feature would enable quick access to vital information and potentially enhance the automation of smart home devices based on current weather conditions. The latest update to the Google Home app has introduced various features, including device-specific favorites. However, further improvements are always welcome.
An APK teardown of the recent Google Home release has revealed code indicating the impending addition of outdoor AQI and weather information. This integration would significantly benefit users by aiding them in smart home automation related to weather conditions. Currently, Google Home version 3.35.55 hints at the introduction of two new options in the Favorites tab: Outdoor AQI and Outdoor Weather. Although the functionality to display these options isn’t activated yet, the potential for viewing this information is promising.
Notably, similar data is already visible in the Climate tab if users have a compatible Google Nest Temperature Sensor. Having prompt access to outdoor weather and AQI details would be advantageous for smart home users. For instance, it would allow them to manage plant watering systems based on weather forecasts, control ventilation or air purification systems according to local AQI, and provide alerts for residents regarding air quality issues. Given the practical applications of this feature, many users are eager for its arrival in the Favorites tab.
As anticipation builds, users hope this useful information will be available soon for enhanced smart home management.
