The Fitbit app has recently undergone a subtle but significant update, showcasing a new Device Settings page designed for smartwatches and fitness trackers. This redesign draws inspiration from the layout of the Pixel Watch companion app, which reflects a current trend towards uniformity across Google’s applications. The changes primarily focus on the Device Settings page that users will see when they connect their smart devices. At the top, there’s a prominent image displaying the connected device along with its watch face.
Below this image, essential information such as battery level, last sync time, and connection status is easily accessible. A “Sync now” button is conveniently located in the top-right corner, allowing users to refresh their connection effortlessly. As users scroll down, they will encounter cards for managing Watch Faces, Apps, and Tiles, mimicking the interface found in the Pixel Watch app. While the visual presentation has changed, pressing these cards will still lead to the familiar management options present in previous app versions.
The settings menu itself has received updates as well. For instance, on a Fitbit Sense 2, users now have access to features like notifications management for calls and apps, device preferences, Google Services integration, and Fitbit reminders. Additionally, options for system settings and smart features such as Alexa and on-wrist calling have also been included. This isn’t an isolated incident; over the past year, Google has been refining the Fitbit app, embracing a cleaner, streamlined user interface reminiscent of its other applications.
Looking ahead, a more comprehensive update using the new Material 3 Expressive design is expected. Therefore, users can anticipate an evolving experience that aligns with Google’s broader strategy for app consistency.
