The latest beta version of the Google app introduces significant updates to the Circle to Search feature, enhancing its song recognition capabilities and translation functions. These improvements, uncovered in an APK teardown, highlight Google’s ongoing efforts to refine this versatile tool, which allows users to identify songs and translate languages with ease. One notable enhancement is the integration of a shortcut that grants users access to their song search history.
Once users activate Circle to Search and tap on the music note icon, they will see a new history icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Tapping this icon leads to the “Recent song searches” page, where users can review their past searches, complete with song titles, album artwork, and artist information. This feature had initially started rolling out to beta testers in April, and its continued development shows promise for improved user experience.
Additionally, the translation functionality is also getting an upgrade. In the current setup, users can translate the entire screen using the translate button in Circle to Search. However, there was a limitation: if something was circled beforehand, users had to restart the process to translate text.
The new update addresses this issue, introducing a translate button that appears right after something is circled, enabling users to easily translate specific text without having to exit the tool. These updates reflect Google’s commitment to enhancing Circle to Search, making it a more powerful and user-friendly resource. As the feature evolves, it promises to offer even greater utility for music lovers and language learners alike.
