Recently, Android Authority has introduced a significant update to its Wallpaper & Style app under the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2. This update includes an organized grouping of wallpaper creation and editing tools under a new banner called Wallpaper Studio, replacing the previous “suggested photos” view. As a starting point for customizing the look of your Pixel phone, this app provides an extensive range of options for both lock and home screens.
With the new QPR1 Beta 2 release, users will now find a dedicated Wallpaper Studio section at the top of the Wallpaper & Style app, enhancing the user experience. While the core functions remain the same—the tools for creating and editing wallpapers are essentially those already available—this new organization simplifies access to various features. Users can now conveniently generate emoji wallpapers, while also utilizing Google’s AI and special effects capabilities, such as the Cinematic wallpapers that offer pseudo-3D effects.
One of the notable features introduced is the Magic Portrait, which not only provides innovative framing options but also applies dynamic weather effects to the wallpaper. This allows your phone’s interface to mirror real-time weather conditions, adding a layer of personalization. Although users are eager for additional functionality, the recent UI improvements and the cohesive branding of Wallpaper Studio are welcome changes.
Android Authority will continue to offer updates about advancements in the QPR1 Beta 2, which also includes status bar reorganizations and enhanced volume controls.
