In an unexpected twist, carrier-locked models are receiving the update ahead of unlocked versions, which is not typical given Samsung’s usual practice of prioritizing unlocked devices. Historically, carrier-locked smartphones tend to experience delays in receiving new updates and security patches. However, this time, it appears that Samsung has initiated the rollout for carrier-locked Galaxy S25 phones, which is a pleasant surprise for users of these models.
According to reports, the new update comes with the firmware version S93xUSQS3AYD and primarily focuses on delivering the May 2025 security patch, without introducing any significant new features. Major carriers have begun to push out this update, although specifics regarding which carriers are included have not been detailed.
