Recent leaks suggest that a next-generation OPPO flagship phone may feature an impressive camera setup, including a 200MP periscope camera and a 50MP 10x periscope camera. If these claims hold true, this device could offer the most advanced zoom capabilities currently available in a smartphone, reviving the much-missed 10x camera technology seen in the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Samsung initially made waves with its Galaxy S21 Ultra in 2021 as one of the first devices to incorporate a 10x periscope camera. However, since then, such technology has been largely absent from the smartphone market.
The leaker, known as Digital Chat Station, has indicated on Weibo that the upcoming OPPO Find series could be the first to reintroduce this feature. The 200MP zoom camera is expected to have a large sensor, while the 10x camera would utilize a smaller sensor to fit within the phone’s design constraints. The inclusion of a 50MP 10x camera would also suggest the potential for lossless 20x shots, elevating zoom quality in conventional smartphones to unprecedented levels. Companies like OPPO and Xiaomi have already implemented AI zoom technology, yielding impressive results.
The combination of a high-resolution 10x camera and advanced AI could enhance picture quality significantly, potentially surpassing previous models. If this OPPO device becomes available globally, it would be a game changer for mobile photography enthusiasts. However, there are concerns about its availability outside of China, as previous OPPO Ultra models have not made their way to international markets. Whether this rumored phone delivers on its promises remains to be seen.
