Google Gemini Update Introduces Infinite Scrolling Feature for Chat History – Android Authority

Google is implementing a redesign of its Gemini platform, aimed at enhancing user experience with several quality of life adjustments. The most notable change is the introduction of a revamped side panel, which now features an infinitely scrollable chat history.

This update focuses on the Gems function, allowing users to create customized versions of Gemini for specific topics or goals, thereby prioritizing user interaction with this feature. The redesign replaces the “New chat” button’s pill outline and plus symbol with a more straightforward icon, resembling a pencil on paper.

This change simplifies navigation and encourages exploration of the Gems feature, which has been made visibly accessible at the top of the side panel. Users can quickly view their most recent Gems before being directed to the Explore Gems section.

Another significant improvement is the way users can access their chat history. The “Recent” section now lists the last five chats, and selecting “Show more” enables continuous scrolling through all previous discussions, eliminating the need for multiple clicks.

However, despite indications of a potential future chat search tool, this feature has not yet been rolled out, meaning users must rely on their memory to locate specific conversations. Additionally, all other elements previously found in the side panel have been consolidated into a single “Settings and Help” menu.

This menu now includes various options such as Activity, Saved Info, Apps, and subscription management in a more streamlined format. This redesign is currently available on both desktop and mobile versions of Gemini and continues to roll out for broader access.

While the chat search feature is eagerly anticipated, the enhancements made in this update already promise a more intuitive and efficient experience for users.
