Many Galaxy S23 users are expressing feelings of betrayal due to Samsung’s decision to limit certain features of its One UI 7 update to newer devices. Prominent features like the AI Audio Eraser, which debuted with the Galaxy S25, have left older Galaxy S series users frustrated. A Reddit user reported that these “exclusive” features could function perfectly fine on the Galaxy S23 hardware once ported, raising suspicions of planned obsolescence.
The anticipation surrounding the One UI 7 update was palpable among Galaxy S23 users, who hoped to enjoy the latest enhancements. Unfortunately, Samsung has chosen to restrict several features exclusively to the Galaxy S25 and S24 flagships, leaving many older models in the lurch. The company has not provided a comprehensive explanation regarding the missing features or why they are not available on older devices, leading to increased dissatisfaction among users.
One example of a feature missing from the Galaxy S23 series is the AI Audio Eraser, which allows for noise removal in videos. A Redditor managed to successfully port this feature to their Galaxy S23 Ultra, finding it operated smoothly and quickly, enhancing their video quality substantially. Other features such as Log video support, Motion Photos, and AI health insights from Samsung Health were also tested and reported to work effectively on the older device after being enabled through tweaks.
This situation has sparked broader discussions on whether Samsung is intentionally restricting access to keep older devices from fully competing with newer models. As users await further clarification from Samsung about the limitations of the One UI 7 update, many are left questioning the company’s commitment to supporting all their devices fairly.
