Ecobee has announced that its wired Smart Doorbell Camera is now compatible with Google Home. This development marks a significant step forward in integrating smart camera support into Google’s ecosystem, allowing users to monitor their homes more efficiently. Fortunately, Google Home simplifies this by allowing users to manage various camera brands in one convenient app. With the new integration, users can easily access all their camera feeds through the Google Home app on Android devices, or on smart displays like the Nest Hub. Notable brands like Arlo and Wyze have long supported Google Home, and recently, Philips Hue joined the mix. Now, Ecobee’s cameras can interact seamlessly with the platform, enhancing its utility.
Ecobee is primarily known for its smart thermostats, but as the smart home market expands, so do their product offerings. The company currently offers the SmartCamera and the wired Smart Doorbell Camera; however, the recent announcement confirms Google Home support solely for the Doorbell Camera at this time. Additionally, subscribers to Ecobee Smart Security will benefit from features such as package detection and a 30-day video history. Although there’s no comprehensive list of supported cameras from Google, the major brands are increasingly being welcomed into the Home ecosystem.
