Ecobee Smart Camera Now Supports Google Home Integration – Android Authority Update

Ecobee has announced that its wired Smart Doorbell Camera is now compatible with Google Home. This development marks a significant step forward in integrating smart camera support into Google’s ecosystem, allowing users to monitor their homes more efficiently. Smart cameras serve as an affordable solution to oversee your home and valuables, whether you’re on vacation or enjoying time in your backyard. The market is brimming with options, but navigating multiple apps can be cumbersome if you’re not locked into a single brand.

Fortunately, Google Home simplifies this by allowing users to manage various camera brands in one convenient app. With the new integration, users can easily access all their camera feeds through the Google Home app on Android devices, or on smart displays like the Nest Hub. Notable brands like Arlo and Wyze have long supported Google Home, and recently, Philips Hue joined the mix. Now, Ecobee’s cameras can interact seamlessly with the platform, enhancing its utility.

Ecobee is primarily known for its smart thermostats, but as the smart home market expands, so do their product offerings. The company currently offers the SmartCamera and the wired Smart Doorbell Camera; however, the recent announcement confirms Google Home support solely for the Doorbell Camera at this time. We have reached out to Ecobee for clarification on future support for the indoor camera. With the integration, users will be able to access their camera feeds using voice commands.

Additionally, subscribers to Ecobee Smart Security will benefit from features such as package detection and a 30-day video history. Although there’s no comprehensive list of supported cameras from Google, the major brands are increasingly being welcomed into the Home ecosystem. If you’re still waiting for support for your smart camera, share your thoughts in the comments.
