Samsung has officially initiated the rollout of the One UI 8 beta for the Galaxy S25 series, making this update available initially in South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The beta program allows users in these regions to explore the new features of One UI 8, which is based on Android 16. The first beta build, sized at 3.38 GB, comes with various version numbers depending on your location, ensuring that users have regional support. This update also includes the May 1, 2025, security patch, adding an extra layer of protection for initial beta testers.
Reports suggest that the update is being disseminated to both unlocked Galaxy S25 models and those on T-Mobile in the U.S., which is a positive sign for a broader audience. The One UI 8 beta has been received by several users, including Android Authority’s own Paul Jones and Zachary Kew-Denniss, who successfully installed it on their Galaxy S25 Ultras in the UK. Notably, the swift rollout to the U.S. is surprising given past delays but indicates Samsung’s commitment to improving upon its earlier One UI 7 mishaps. Samsung has mandated that the beta update can only be downloaded over Wi-Fi, so users will need access to a wireless network to proceed.
To enroll in the One UI 8 beta program, you must download the Samsung Members app and log in with your Samsung account. Eligible users will find a banner promoting the One UI 8 Beta Program and can follow the necessary steps to register. Once registered, users can check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and Install. After downloading, feedback on the new features would be welcomed as Samsung continues to enhance its software offerings.
