Update Your Old LG Smartphone Now Before It’s Too Late – Android Authority

If you own an old LG smartphone, it’s important to take action soon. LG shut down its smartphone manufacturing business in 2021 but committed to providing three years of updates for eligible devices. With those updates now complete, the company is set to cease its update server operations by June 30, 2025.

After this date, users will be unable to download or install any further Android updates on their devices. LG’s announcement comes as a part of its ongoing exit from the smartphone market. While companies like Nokia and HTC still exist, LG’s departure has been a significant loss to consumers who appreciated its innovations and unique designs, like the LG Wing.

The company previously assured its customers that they would not be left without support, yet now it is preparing to shut down all related services. If you still rely on an LG device, this is a final call to update your software before the deadline. Make sure to charge your phone and install the latest available updates.

Additionally, LG is also closing down its LG Bridge PC software, which supports backup, restore functions, and software installation. While it’s unfortunate to see LG pull the plug on its smartphone operations, this move is in line with their strategy since leaving the market. Although it would have been beneficial for LG to provide updates for a longer period for their existing users, the practical value of such updates decreases over time.

If you have an LG Wing or another eligible smartphone, act quickly to ensure your device is up to date before the upcoming deadline.
