Google has recently announced that it will no longer support the first- and second-generation Nest Learning Thermostats, effective October 25th. This decision means that while users can still operate these older models manually, they will lose the ability to control them via the Nest or Home apps and with Google Assistant.
In response to this change, the company is offering significant discounts for users looking to upgrade to the newer fourth-generation model. For owners of the older models in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, the offers are quite appealing.
In the United States, customers can enjoy a $130 discount on the fourth-generation Nest Learning Thermostat, which retails at $279.99. In Canada, the discount is even greater, with $160 off the same thermostat, priced at $379.99.
In Europe, users can receive a 50% discount on the Tado Smart Thermostat X – Starter Kit. Users unsure of their thermostat’s generation can identify it by examining the display, base, or checking the Nest or Home app.
Furthermore, Google will be reaching out directly to eligible users via email, providing detailed information and a personalized link to access the discount offers. If you own multiple thermostats, you are in luck, as these discounts apply to each additional unit at the same rates.
However, a Google spokesperson has indicated that only a single discount code can be used for up to three devices. Beyond this limit, customers will need to pay the full price for any additional replacements.
