Retroid has exciting news for gamers in the United States. The retro gaming handheld market has been severely affected by recent tariffs imposed by the current US administration.
Many manufacturers, including Retroid, have faced challenges in shipping and product strategies as costs rise. The company was in the midst of launching its new Pocket Classic handheld when these issues arose but has since provided updates regarding US orders.
Last week, Retroid confirmed that deliveries of the Pocket Classic were being impacted due to shipping uncertainties and the unavailability of certain color options. They had been prioritizing US orders as the deadline for shipments from China approached.
In a series of announcements via their Discord channel, Retroid revealed some positive news concerning shipping developments. Starting April 23, 2025, 4PX will pause US shipments without a specific timeline for resumption.
However, DHL has informed Retroid that they will resume shipments starting April 27, 2025. Additionally, the company has secured a new shipping vendor to enhance service for US customers, with a trial period running from April 25 to May 15.
Importantly, prices of the products will not increase during this transition, and Retroid has decided to cover the US tariff fees for customers. However, shipping costs will see a rise of about $20 beginning April 27 for US orders.
For global customers, Retroid is also ensuring that orders placed before April 25 will be prioritized. The company expects to fulfill Flip 2 orders by the end of next week and to start shipping various Classic models shortly thereafter.
While the tariff challenges persist, it’s encouraging to see Retroid making strides toward resolving these issues for their customers.
