AYANEO has officially unveiled its latest handheld device, the Pocket ACE, which is currently up for funding on Indiegogo. This compact device features a 4.5-inch 3:2 LCD display, a Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chipset, and a substantial 6,000mAh battery. For those interested in purchasing early, prices start at $339, with shipping anticipated to commence in late May. The Pocket ACE positions itself in the market between the Pocket Micro and Pocket S, offering impressive performance in a smaller form factor.
This new model was first teased last month, and its display ratio is particularly beneficial for gaming enthusiasts, providing an optimal viewing experience for both Game Boy Advance titles and other systems. In terms of performance, the device is equipped with the same Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 processor found in AYANEO’s other handhelds. While it may not be the most recent chipset, the G3x Gen 2 has demonstrated solid performance in tests, capable of running various emulators effectively. However, it does face some challenges regarding community driver support, which may improve as the usage of these processors increases in the handheld market.
The Pocket ACE comes with a robust battery, addressing one of the previous models’ shortcomings. With a 6,000mAh battery, it provides ample power for extended gaming sessions. This model competes directly with devices like the Retroid Pocket Mini and Odin 2 Mini. However, the Retroid Pocket Mini is currently unavailable due to reported screen issues.
As a premium handheld, the Pocket ACE’s pricing reflects its features, with the top-tier Retro Power edition featuring 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage priced at $599 for early backers.
