Many users face issues with Nothing Ear (2) earbuds breaking apart – Android Authority

Many users, including myself, have encountered durability issues with the Nothing Ear (2) earbuds, as they have been reported to fall apart over time. The most common point of failure appears to be the glue holding the two plastic shells together. While Nothing has garnered a solid fanbase and improved its devices significantly since its inception, this particular issue seems to be a major drawback. Despite enjoying the sound quality and comfort of the Nothing Ear (2) for over two years, six months ago, I noticed that one of the earbuds had a loose casing.

My attempts to repair it with glue were unsuccessful, and I ultimately resorted to using a piece of tape for a temporary fix. Unfortunately, I faced a similar problem with the other earbud later on, which further highlights the recurring nature of this issue. A growing number of reports on platforms like Reddit and Twitter confirm that I’m not alone in this experience. Many users have shared their frustrations regarding the separation of the two shells.

Moreover, some have noted that similar problems were present in the older Ear (1) model. Attempting to make DIY repairs often leads to additional issues, such as microphone failure or diminished performance. As for the 2024 refresh of Nothing’s earbuds, it remains uncertain whether these issues persist, despite the design appearing unchanged. The design still requires users to squeeze the casing for controls, suggesting that the problem may continue.

It is hoped that future iterations will address these concerns and enhance the durability of the earbuds, allowing fans of the brand to enjoy their products without these hindrances.
