Samsung has officially halted the worldwide rollout of the One UI 7 update, which is based on Android 15. The update began its rollout last week after months of delays but was interrupted due to the discovery of a “serious bug.” Reports indicate this issue could potentially prevent users from unlocking their devices.
The situation was first brought to light by renowned leaker Ice Universe, with users discussing the suspension of the One UI 7 update on Samsung’s Korean forums. Following an initial release in South Korea on April 7, the update expanded to the US on April 10, where problems reportedly emerged.
Users began to experience difficulties unlocking their Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 smartphones. Concerns prompted Samsung to review the update promptly, leading to its withdrawal in other regions, including China.
It appears that the delays stem from glitches primarily affecting Exynos 2400-powered Galaxy S24 models. However, it has been noted that the stoppage may also extend to Snapdragon-powered variants in the US and beyond.
Currently, Samsung has not acknowledged the issue publicly, nor has there been an official confirmation regarding the halted rollout of One UI 7. Users have expressed fears that this pause might impact the update schedule for older Galaxy devices, such as the Galaxy S23 series.
For those who have already received the update, it is likely that Samsung will soon issue a new patch to address the identified issues. The company is expected to provide further clarity on the situation soon.
This is an evolving story, so updates will follow.
