Insta360 has introduced its latest flagship camera, the Insta360 X5, which features significant advancements designed to impress both action and 360-degree photography enthusiasts. Priced at $549.99, the camera is now available for purchase from the Insta360 online store, Amazon, and select retailers.
The X5 incorporates a host of new features, including larger sensors and improved low-light performance. It boasts a pair of 1/1.28-inch sensors, which are notably larger than those found in the previous model, the X4, enabling better light capture for enhanced day and night imagery.
Further supporting its performance, the camera utilizes a new Triple AI Chip system to produce clean, uncompressed images, with a special PureVideo low-light mode catering to nighttime shooting. An exciting innovation in the X5 is InstaFrame, a feature that allows users to generate both a traditional flat video and a full 360-degree recording simultaneously, making it easy to share content quickly while retaining the option for further editing later.
Additionally, the camera emphasizes durability, promoted as “the toughest 360-degree camera ever.” It features scratch-resistant glass over swappable lenses, a first for Insta360, along with a waterproof body capable of withstanding depths of up to 49 feet (15m).
Battery life has seen improvements with a new 2,400mAh cell that offers around three hours of continuous recording in endurance mode and fast charging capabilities. The updated Insta360 mobile app includes a more user-friendly interface and various enhanced editing tools, with full compatibility across Android and iOS platforms.
While noted reviewers praise the X5 for its new features, opinions suggest that those already satisfied with the X4 may not find sufficient incentive to invest in this latest model.
