Google Translate May Introduce One-Tap Search Feature for Translated Text, According to APK Teardown

Google Translate is expected to introduce a new feature that will provide users with a convenient one-tap search option for translated text. This update will allow users to quickly perform a search in the target language for the translated content, resulting in the display of relevant search results in a new window.

The anticipated feature may show the search results either within the Google app or in a separate browser window. This development follows the discovery of a language practice feature in a recent teardown of version 9.7.102 of the Google Translate app, highlighting that the company is not only focusing on translation but also enhancing users’ language-learning experiences.

An APK teardown is a process that helps predict future features based on code that developers have yet to finalize. However, it’s important to note that not all predicted features necessarily make it to a public release.

The new search shortcut, while not yet available in the current app version, has been manually activated for demonstration purposes. In this demonstration, a Search button with the Google logo appears next to the copy button below the translated text.

By tapping this button, users will be redirected to a new window displaying search results relevant to the translated content. For instance, when translating words from English to languages like Hindi or Arabic, the search results seamlessly correspond to the selected language.

Interestingly, it appears that Google is exploring two different methods for presenting these search results: either through the Google app itself or via the user’s default web browser. It remains unclear how Google Translate will determine which platform to use for displaying the search information.

Further developments will be observed, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
