Google Maps Enhances Trip Planning Features with New Convenient ETA Tool – Android Authority

Google Maps is enhancing its trip planning features with an updated layout that improves how navigation details are presented. This new interface is designed to provide more information, even as some elements are rendered smaller, while also introducing a newly estimated time of arrival (ETA) for users who set off immediately. Traditionally, when users input their destination and initiate navigation, the trip details displayed at the bottom of the screen used a fairly straightforward design. Both the travel time estimate and the distance were given equal visibility.

However, the latest update, spotted by 9to5Google, has revamped this section to allow for a more prioritized display of information. The updated design features a more prominent presentation of travel time by showing hours in a larger font size and tucking away the minutes for a cleaner look. While the distance traveled is still included, it has been scaled down in size. This change may initially seem negative, but it actually creates more space for additional details; most notably, the app now displays an ETA before the navigation begins.

Previously, users only saw this information once they started driving. This redesigned interface affects all travel modes available on Google Maps and appears to be rolling out with version 25.13.06 of the app. Although many users have reportedly begun seeing the new features, some may still be waiting for the updates to fully reach their devices. Overall, while adapting to the changes may require some time, feedback suggests that the new look is a welcome improvement, enhancing the overall user experience.
