BOOX’s New Go Series Tablets Challenge reMarkable’s Dominance in the E-ink Market

BOOX has introduced two new 7-inch Android-based E Ink tablets in its Go Series, positioning them as strong competitors to the reMarkable 2. Priced at $249.99 for the standard Go 7 and $279.99 for the Color Go 7 Gen II, both tablets offer stylus support and run on the Android operating system. This enables users to easily select their preferred bookstore and download their favorite note-taking applications from the Play Store. The BOOX Go 7 features a black-and-white E Ink Carta 1300 display with a crisp 300ppi resolution and an adjustable dual-tone front light.

Its unique asymmetrical design includes a large right-side bezel for comfortable gripping, allowing users to handle the tablet without obstructing the display. The bezel also houses two physical buttons for effortless page turning. Under the hood, the Go 7 is powered by an octa-core CPU, 4GB of RAM, and offers 64GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD card slot. The tablet incorporates a built-in speaker and Bluetooth support, making it easy to enjoy audiobooks through the speaker or connect to Bluetooth earbuds.

Additionally, it features a USB-C port that supports OTG functionality and serves as an audio jack, complemented by a robust 2,300mAh battery. The BOOX Color Go 7 Gen II is similar in design but boasts an E Ink Kaleido 3 display capable of showcasing up to 4,096 colors at 150ppi, alongside black-and-white text and images at 300ppi. Both models support the BOOX InkSense active stylus, offering 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, a multi-function side button, and replaceable pen tips, though the stylus must be purchased separately for $45.99. With promising specifications, the BOOX Go 7 is already available for purchase on the company’s website and will soon appear on Amazon.

In contrast, details on the release of the Color Go 7 Gen II are still awaited, with a retail price set at $279.99.
