Pixel Weather App Discontinues Weather Map Feature: Is It Gone for Good?

Recently, Google has removed the Weather Map feature from the Pixel Weather app, a change that has left many users puzzled. This removal has been observed across all Pixel devices, highlighting that the feature was taken down through a server-side change rather than an official update via the Play Store.

Users on platforms such as Reddit and the Google Community forum have expressed their confusion over the unexpected disappearance of this functionality. The Weather Map, which was introduced as a new feature in regions like the US, UK, Europe, and Japan in August 2024, offered a traditional radar experience.

It provided users with a six-hour precipitation forecast and allowed for tracking of rainy cloud movements. Many users had found it particularly beneficial for receiving real-time and visual weather updates in their local areas.

As of now, the Weather Map is no longer accessible, and it has vanished from both the city view and locations experiencing rainfall. Users have noted that while this feature is gone, all other components of the app remain unaffected.

These include the AI Weather Report, Hourly Forecast, 10-day Forecast, and Wind and Precipitation data. The motivation behind the removal remains unclear, leaving users speculating whether it was a deliberate decision by Google or an oversight.

As many are hoping for clarity, it remains to be seen if the company will address this issue or potentially restore the Weather Map feature in the future.
